About Eigakan Jazz

If you’re wandering around Bunkyo City in Tokyo and craving a spot with a unique vibe, Eigakan Jazz is the kind of café that immediately draws you in. Nestled at 5 Chome-33-19 Hakusan, this cozy venue is more than just a place for coffee; it’s a haven for those who appreciate jazz, intimate settings, and a relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere. As soon as you step inside, you’ll notice the smooth melodies floating in the air, perfectly complementing the warm, inviting décor. The café is strictly dine-in only, which gives it a very personal, sit-and-savor experience-no takeout or delivery options here, so it’s all about slowing down and enjoying the moment.

The drink offerings at Eigakan Jazz are carefully curated to match its chic, mellow energy. Whether you’re in the mood for a rich cup of coffee to kickstart your day or a glass of fine wine in the evening, there’s something to suit every palate. They also serve a range of alcoholic beverages, including beer and hard liquor, making it a versatile spot for both casual daytime visits and evening unwinding. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, creating a comfortable balance that lets you focus on the music, the drinks, and the ambiance.

What really sets this place apart is how it merges the café experience with a jazz lounge feel. Tables are arranged to foster conversation, yet there’s enough space to enjoy a quiet moment alone, reading or simply soaking in the music. Unlike standard cafés, the emphasis here is on the overall sensory experience: the sound of live or curated jazz, the taste of thoughtfully prepared drinks, and the atmosphere that feels both classy and approachable. Whether you’re a local looking for a regular spot to relax or a visitor hoping to enjoy a slice of Tokyo’s jazz culture, Eigakan Jazz provides a unique and memorable café experience that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.

If you're a jazz enthusiast or simply a lover of music, Eigakan Jazz Kissa is a destination you can't afford to miss. Easily accessible by train, this spot in Tokyo offers an experience like no other. I visited on a rainy Thursday evening, and it was nothing short of magical—the sound quality, the ambiance, and the rich history that permeates the air all contributed to an unforgettable experience. This isn't just a café; it's a shrine to jazz, a place where you can immerse yourself in the rhythms and melodies that have shaped global jazz history. Make sure to stop by and soak in the music for a few hours.

I learned about this place from a book called “A rough guide to Jazz Kissa.” I am so glad I was able to spend some time in the cafe for some Jazz music. The owner is very friendly and he speaks some English too! I highly recommended this place to anyone who love Jazz. It is right next to a train train, very convenient. I will definitely go there again when I visit Tokyo in the future!

The vibe was amazing! Tokyo has many of these Jazz Kissas but one of my favorite. I really like the environment down there.

We have been here a couple of years ago by absolute chance and it was one of the best experiences we had in Japan. Lovely music, lovely owners, lovely cat, if you are nearby, please do yourself a favor and visit! Love, Ivars and Nina

A must go if you are a jazz lover. The atmosphere of this place was lovely, and an ideal place to have wonderful conversations with a variety of people, even doing some reading or journaling while enjoying the music in the background. It was very easy to find as it is located right next to the station, and the café had a very warm and inviting feel to it that made me feel nostalgic.
